Risk factors may include
  • Excessive losses: copious diarrhea, profuse sweating, vomiting
  • Hypermetabolic state, fever
  • Restricted intake: nausea, anorexia; lethargy
Desired outcomes
  • Maintain hydration as evidenced by moist mucous membranes, good skin turgor, stable vital signs, individually adequate urinary output.
